Book Art Workshop
with Lorna Mackay

Saturday 6th September

10-12pm

About

Create a painting inspired by, and celebrating, your favourite book. Working on a small canvas (A4/5) this may take the form of re-working an existing cover design, merging text and images or an expressive response to evoke the spirit of your chosen book.

We will work with acrylic paints and cover basic colour mixing, use a limited colour palette and work with strong, simple shapes. We will be making quick responses to allow for maximum painting time.

It’s helpful to bring along the book and some related images to include in your design. These may take the form of images torn from magazines, print outs and other artists work that inspire you and remind you of your chosen book. Maybe you have some letter stencils you would like to use, bring them along and they could prove useful!

Closer to the time I will contact you and ask, if possible, for details of your chosen book and I will be happy to print out a page of images to support you in the workshop.

All materials provided and at the end of the session you will have your drawings and canvas to take home.

This is a 2 hour workshop and is suitable for all levels of experience.

Please bring an apron/old shirt to protect your clothes.
